The government’s goal was to retire this instrument at the end of 2023, but the discussion between the government and the social partners on the social security reform is languishing and Quota 41, the goal of the legislature and the workhorse of the League, seems to be receding on the horizon and the hypothesis of extending Quota 103 also for 2024 is becoming more and more concrete.
Beyond the electoral promises, the problem, as always, is financial coverage. Quota 41, with which one would say goodbye to work with 41 years of contributions and regardless of age, would reward the so-called “early workers”, but according to INPS estimates it would cost the state coffers more than 4 billion in the first year of activation , to rise up to 75 billion in the following ten years. Too many, even for a good part of the majority.
