Council of Ministers: release of the executive to minister Calderoli’s bill. Now the word passes to Parliament for approval within a year

Autonomy goes, the council of ministers fires the bill and now the ball passes to Parliament. It is the first formal step, but it has political value because the government’s unanimous green light means that the entire center-right has shared the project of Northern League minister Roberto Calderoli (who wants to complete the process within a year). «There is the definitive and unanimous go-ahead from the Council of Ministers for differentiated autonomy, the path of reform is proceeding. Now the bill is preparing to take the road towards the examination of the Parliament, which will therefore be fully involved in this process. In that perspective of collaboration that has guided my work from the very beginning, some amendment proposals from local authorities have been included in the definitive text approved today, including insularity. Italy has a historic opportunity for structural renewal which must be tackled without prejudice or ideology, but with pragmatism and awareness”.

The Northern League minister explains what his goals are: « My goal is to make the our country like a high-speed train, overcoming the gaps that current centralism has crystallized and allowing everyone to improve in the name of efficiency, development, transparency and responsibility. It is a challenge for the future and for modernity, which we can and must take up in the citizens’ interest».
