Eclectic thinker, born in 1947, had questioned the concept of modernity and had characterized himself as one of the most original voices in the environmentalist leader.

He was one of the most famous contemporary French thinkers. Bruno Latour, who passed away on 8 October in Paris, had carefully studied the social mechanisms that lead to scientific discoveries and had characterized himself as a well-rounded intellectual, able to move easily in the various fields of philosophy, sociology and anthropology .

Awarded the Holberg Prize in 2013 and the Kyoto Prize in 2021, Latour was born on June 22, 1947 in Beaune, Burgundy and, after studying philosophy, had carried out important field ethnographic research in the Ivory Coast as a young man. Specialized in the philosophy of science, critical of the concept of modernity, he had also turned his attention to the non-human, formulating radical proposals for rights to be recognized as well.

Among the best known works of Latour translated into Italian: Science in action (Community Editions 1998); Policies of nature (Raffaello Cortina, 2000); The factory of law (Open City, 2007); We have never been modern (Eluthera, 2009).
