"Conte is a serious person. It's complicated with the third pole". The Boccia doctrine for the new Pd

"Conte is a serious person. It's complicated with the third pole". The Boccia doctrine for the new Pd

The new dem group leader in the Senate gives the coordinates of the new party: the defense of the last and the return to the red-yellow axis. "The leader of the M5s is intelligent, he works to aggregate. If the government touches the weakest, we won't stop at talk shows"

He evoked it for months, he tried it at every electoral round, albeit with fluctuating results. And now, that he's back in the front row, he raises: "It seems clear to me that the position of the Democratic Party and that of the M5s have points of convergence". He claims: "I think I said it many, many months ago and the results in some important administrations proved us right". It is the Boccia doctrine, which marks the new course of the dem, that of Elly Schlein, (on which the Apulian senator bet and on which he spent a lot): return to the red-yellow axis. With a corollary: "The defense of the least", ready for the square, if necessary.

Since yesterday, Boccia has been the new group leader in the Senate of the Democratic Party. Elected by acclamation, his words are not new after all but are taking on greater importance today. An appointment strongly desired by the new secretary because there must be absolute continuity, a close bond, between the leadership and the parliamentary groups, as she herself explained on several occasions. And the former minister for regional affairs - during the Conte II government - is a man of confidence, he will have to preside over the field - especially at Palazzo Madama, where the majority numbers are tighter - while Schlein will go in search of votes.

In short, it can be deduced that the words delivered to the Press this morning are the perimeter within which the dem will act. It assures, however, that there will be no "excluded conditions". And yet, "judging by the critical positions expressed by Calenda and Renzi, it seems complex to me...", admits Boccia, who instead spends words of a completely different kind on Conte: "A serious and intelligent person: I don't think he assumes any competition but just wants to aggregate".

The perplexities of certain dem, such as Loreno Guerini or Sandra Zampa, who spoke of forcing, show distrust of the mechanisms and choices put in place by Schlein in this secretarial start are better understood. A situation in which Boccia doesn't get upset: "I am quite sure that a synthesis is possible. We need to arm ourselves not so much with patience, as with good will". And to bring together the main themes, civil and social rights, without however distorting the party too much.

"Elly doesn't have a movementist party in mind but has in mind a Democratic Party that is a home for the movements. They are two different things", explained Boccia again, almost Marzullian. And without setting limits. So that "If they touch the weakest we won't stop at the talk show".
