ROME – All ready for the award ceremony of the fifth edition of Shorts of Long Lifethe international short film competition promoted by the50&More Association. The event in which the three winners of the competition will be proclaimed and awarded will take place on 16 May at 7 pm at the Troisi Cinema of Rome with a jury chaired by Pierfrancesco Diliberto, aka Pif. The competition was created to encourage the creation of unpublished works that are able to address and tell the facets of old age and aging, starting from a specific theme. The one chosen for this edition is “Power” a word that can convey as many meanings as there are possible interpretations resulting from the imagination and technique of the directors. L'”Power” (which in Greek means “force in action”) can in fact arise from a dialogue, from a memory, from an emotion, from a real or imagined encounter with another. All themes, these, dealt with in the twelve finalist shorts among which, on May 16, the winners will be chosen.

Fifty directors in the competition. The 2023 edition gathered the participation of 50 directors of various age groups from Italy and France. The age of the competitors ranges from 20 to 78 years with a strong presence of under 50s: among these is also the contribution of a school led by their teachers. Furthermore, most of the shorts come from central and southern Italy. The winners will be awarded a cash prize of €2,000 for first place, €1,000 for second place and €500 for third place. This year’s jury is composed of Pif in the role of president; by Flavio De Bernardinis, film critic and professor at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia; by Doriana Leondeff, screenwriter and winner of a David di Donatello and a Silver Ribbon for the screenplay of “Pani e tulipani”; by Claudio Noce, director and screenwriter, winner of a David di Donatello and two Silver Ribbons; by Lidia Ravera, journalist and writer of the “Terzo Tempo” series dedicated to novels that tell stories of over 60s.
