Capanna: “The protest at La Scala? Those boys continue the battles of ’68”

“I wouldn’t exactly call them our heirs, but I’m glad they’re making a fair and intelligent protest,” says the historic leader of the student movement, after a group of climate activists daubed the Milan theater with paint this morning

“I feel a feeling of tenderness and sharing towards these guys,” he tells Il Foglio Mario Capanna, one of the main leaders of the student movements of 1968 and protagonist, now 54 years ago, of a demonstration on the occasion of the premiere of La Scala which culminated with a throwing of eggs at the tuxedos and fur coats of those who entered to see the show. This morning the activists of the Last Generation, already at the center of many controversies for roadblocks and the defiling of works of art in museums, threw paint against the walls of the most famous theater in Milan. The goal of these gestures is always the same: to make public opinion talk about the current climate crisis as much as possible (and by any means).
